Eckerö Line's passenger volume exceeded 2 million for the first time
The year 2023 was very successful for Eckerö Line. The company passed the two million passenger milestone for the first time. Eckerö Line's freight operations also grew significantly, as did Eckerö Line's market share of the total freight market on the Helsinki-Tallinn route. M/s Finbo Cargo's renewed timetables, among other things, contributed to the positive development of freight operations.
“In 2023, passenger volumes exceeded all our expectations and we are very grateful to our customers and our staff. Our success proves that quality and our service are appreciated by our passengers", says the delighted CEO of Eckerö Line Taru Keronen.
Throughout 2023, Eckerö Line was also awarded several prizes and recognitions by both customers and personnel. First place for customer experience in the EPSI Rating and fourth place in ASML’s customer index 2023 surveys reflect not only the shipping company's high service standard, but also the fact that the job satisfaction of our professional employees is conveyed directly to our customers.
The fact that Eckerö Line again received the Great Place To Work certificate and second place in the category for large organizations in the Oikotie responsible workplace 2023 study, supports this. The company's commitment to responsibility and employee well-being has created a strong foundation, which is reflected both within the company and in the customer experience.
Eckerö Line continues it's strong investment in more environmentally friendly shipping
Eckerö Line's ship m/s Finlandia will undergo a major renovation during her docking 7.1-8.2.2024. The renovation focuses especially on changes to further reduce fuel consumption. During docking, new rudders and propeller blades will be installed to the vessel and the aim is to reduce emissions by an estimated 6%. In addition, the hull is treated with a special paint that improves the ship's glide in the water. This reduces the ship's fuel consumption.
In addition to docking, environmentally responsible operations are a part of Eckerö Line's everyday life. Methods such as the ships' speed optimization, ensuring energy efficiency and to utilize waste heat and seawater temperature in energy use are already well-established.
After docking, m/s Finlandia will return to traffic on 8 February 2024, ready to offer it's customers even more sustainable and pleasant sea voyages.
